LEADERSHIP

David “Crockett” Long

“Crockett” Long passed away unexpectedly in August of 2022. The Long Beverage Family misses him dearly.

Crockett was known as a Leader in the Beverage Industry, a wonderful family man and a very generous human. His passion, integrity, gencrosity and commitment to doing business the right way helped Long Beverage flourish. He was widely known and beloved by legislators, regulators and leaders of our State and Country.

He was President of Long Beverage and had been in the beverage business for over 50 years. He was appointed and requested to serve on many boards and committees to which he gladly committed his time. He served on the board of the NC Beer and Wine Wholesaler Association as Chairman from 2013-2015, rising to PAC Chairman to present date. He was a founding member of the Jim Valvano Kids Klassic and served on the Executive Board as co-chair, which has raised more than 4 million dollars for pediatric cancer research for Duke Children’s Hospital. Crockett served on the Governors Highway Safety Commission and Governars DUI Task Force. He was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper and Secretary Larry Hall to the NC4ME Board and the NC Military Veteran Affairs Commission. He was also appointed as an Honorary NC Secretary of State and Honorary NC Attorney General by former Attorney General and NC Secretary of State Rufus Edmisten. Crockett served as Executive Chairman of the Extra Special Super Kids, and he was an avid supporter of the Landfall Foundation.

“Crockett is gone too soon but the lessons he taught and impact he made on all of us will endure for generations to come.”
